Such objects made from horns usually imitated more expensive combs and hairpins of turtle shells. They were very popular in Europe and Russia in 18th – early 20th centuries. The most famous production center of goods made of materials imitated turtle shell was Ustyantshina or Ustyanskaya volost in Volorda Governorate. Combs were sold in St. Petersburg, Berlin, Baltic Governorates and Poland.
